Going Back In Time

Were you at Woodstock in August, 1969? Were you in the mud? Feeling groovy? Higher than a kite? At peace with the world?

I wasn't. I was getting ready to go to college in southern California.
40 years after the Woodstock Festival, Pat and I made it. Now there
is a beautiful outdoor amplitheater with plenty of bathrooms. Friday night we went to see Peter, Paul and Mary, sans Mary who has major health issues.

We had a great time, the music was mostly songs we remembered from the late 60's, early 70's. Woodstock is now known as Bethel Woods. It's about an hour from home on winding, non-lit back roads. A museum, gift store and restaurant are in this building.

Ok, so I don't have the greatest camera for taking shots from way out! But Paul is standing on the left, Peter is standing on the right. Their voices are getting old but their spirit and energy is still there.

This photo is from Peter, Paul & Mary's website from the concert on Friday. They've got one more concert this summer. Check it out on their website.

Needless to say, not a lot of quilting has gotten done since Friday.

Happy Quilting All!

  1. Me at Woodstock? I don't think so: my parents would have chained me to a post. :o) Actually, I was so naive that I didn't know about Woodstock until after it happened.

Forty years ago, I was preparing for my first year of college. :o)

  3. I was just looking at the Peter, Paul and Mary website. It says that the last concert that was to be held on Sept. 3rd in NJ has been cancelled.

I'm so glad you got to go hear them and have the experience of the old Woodstock.

  4. Well, it wasn't exactly like the old woodstock. There's a nice amplitheater with seating, a cover and lots of expense foot service providers. But fun over all. Luckily the rain didn't come down. B.

  5. Interesting to see your pictures of '69 and Woodsock. No, I was not there - still in the old country, but heard about it. It is a march down memory lane reading your blog tonight, while I have on the PBS, Pete Seager, 90th birthday party. It is loaded with oldie goldie ie., Joan Biaz... performers and I love it.
