Monday Meandering 1 - 25 - 2016

For those of you who wondered:  Yes we did get hit with a lot of snow.  Let's just say that Raggs is shorter than the snow! So much for the local sheriff living in the neighborhood getting our streets plowed early. (Heck, he probably stayed at his office since Friday morning when all this started.) We still haven't seen (or heard) a plow. Pat finally got the cars out of the garage and drove mine up and down our 250' driveway.  So, if we need to we can get out.
Notice the bottom rail of the fence is covered.
While all the snow and sleet came down I worked in the studio.  YEA for power for the whole snow storm!  Here are two quilts I finished on Ruthie this weekend.  First is Jane R's quilt -- she used the quatrefoil design from Missouri Star's video.  I used Superior Threads' So Fine, the pattern is Ginger Snap--one of my go-to patterns.

Next up was this cute Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle quilt.  Superior Threads' So Fine using Mermaid Fingers. (Can I have more than one go-to quilt design?) Unfortunately I didn't recharge the computer that drives Ruthie so I had to wait for it to recharge this morning before I could finish it.

Goals for this week and how I did last week.

We may get a dusting of snow on Wednesday but next week the temps will be in the 50's.  This snow will only be a memory in just a week or so.  I'm leaving you with a picture of Ellie standing on their driveway.  Kevin says part of the snow is what he blew off the driveway.  Don't drop that girl in the middle of a snow drift, we'd lose her!

Happy Quilting All!

  1. Oh my you did get some snow!! I bet little Ellie was pleased as punch too!!! The colors in your Quatrefoil quilt look sure to bring on Spring...makes me think of crocuses and daffodils (that could partly be from Paige @Quilted Blooms influence, too :)

  2. You really got some snow there. That's the kind of snow I got all the time in the UP when I lived there. The snow totally missed us here in MI. But don't feel bad and send us some...lol I love your quilt Hugs

  3. Wow, you are making progress! Sarah, I thought the same thing about daffodils and crocuses. The colors are beautiful in the quatrefoil quilt and love the quilting too!

  4. Great progress on your goals.

I know Ellie had a blast in the snow and created some wonderful memories. I love snow as a child, but now not so much.

  5. What a storm! And I see that temps in your area will be above freezing so you'll be faced with a lot of melting at once. There were many FB photos by quilters who stuck their 24" rulers into the snow to measure -- and then I saw one from a quilter in California who had her ruler outside with the caption, "Nothing here!" Glad you could make good use of the time. I just came across a pattern using the Weathervane block.
