Monday Meanderings 2 - 21 - 2022

We've been going out and about more than usual the last few days.  We drove down to Richmond to do a bit of shopping and have a nice lunch out.  We stayed masked except when we were actually eating.  I enjoyed the time away from home especially since we haven't been going out all that often.

It didn't cause any problems with what I wanted to get done this past week. Yep, I handled all the goals I wanted to.

2/14/2022

More sewing on Looking Glass quilt — ready to be laid out & sewn together.

Do first clue of Stop Tossing --  All done

Make more √Red Spider Webs, RSC blocks, and √16 patches  -- Hum, I want to get one more RSC block done...

Bind Baby Bricks -- done and turned into guild. See the finish here

Work on SAHRR -- I added the rest of the border from the star round. I'm behind on the rounds but at least I have an idea for appliqué but I haven't decided yet.

Cut up some smaller scraps -- I churned out some triangles & 2" squares from some small pieces of fabric hanging around.

Here's what I'm going to be doing this week. I won't have as much sewing time because of some activities.

2/21/2022

Attend Mid Atlantic Quilt Show

Make more Red Spider blocks

Quilt Jenny’s quilt

Cut pieces for more “cupcake” blocks

Layout Looking Glass Quilt and begin sewing together

Work on SAHRR

Here's what my design wall looks like this week.  I'm lucky to have a big wall to put up lots of different projects. (Well, until I put a whole design up!)

Here's a close up of a couple of projects I'm working on.

This churn dash was cut out with my 9" Accuquilt Cube. It is 13.5". I read about using my smaller cube to make a bigger block. I have enough of the center cupcake fabric to make at least 9 blocks. I haven't looked to see if I have enough of the go with fabrics.  There are a lot of colors in the cupcakes so I can use different combos if I need to.

It's hard to tell but I added the rest of the white for the star border. Hum, it looks like the color changes on that white border. I'm sure it's the same fabric. I wonder if I turned some to the wrong side or is it the lighting?  I'm skipping the signature block round.  I have an idea for some appliqué.  I think I'll add something in the bottom left corner.  It may take me a while before I make a final decision. I'm looking forward to seeing what is called for this week. I'd like to get the top done by the end of the month but that my not happen.

Monday Meanderings 6 - 21 - 2021

May I complain about the weather for just a short paragraph?  It's hot and humid here. Three days ago it was low humidity and lovely with temps in the mid 70s.  I want that weather back!  But I doubt we'll see it until October. Sigh. And for those of you where it REALLY is hot 🌞-- my heart understands it's miserable. I hope the hot weather breaks soon.

I've one picture of my whole design wall to share what I've been working on this week.  So left to right my projects are String Blocks with Positivity - 11 done but piled behind the 2 visible blocks below; Ombre Log Cabin blocks, 3  4 " garlic knots (those were just for fun but I suppose I should make some more.  Everything to the right are mostly odd ball blocks I've found with a few I'm actually, kind of, working on.  The top right is a village scene that needs to be quilted with the backing fabric next to it. (It's going to take forever to quilt it so I just haven't been motivated to start it!)

I know I've made more string blocks and Positivity blocks since I took this photo. But I've sewn all of the Ombre Log Cabin blocks that I've cut out.  Time to get back to cutting more of them.

I am sharing one of my customer's quilts that I finished in March this year.

This was made by Marlyn.

Size: 40 x 59"

Thread: So Fine 451

Pattern: Diane by My Creative Stitches

Batting:  Warm and White

I'm pretty sure these are batiks.  I know it was great to stitch out. Below it's still on the long arm being quilted.  Do you see that blue painter's tape?  That marks the center of the quilt and where I line up the next row, which is already in progress in the picture.

Now, on to my goals. Look at all those check marks!

6/14/2021

Finish quilting Remade Log Cabin; figure amt of fabric used —didn't do this

More Ombré Log Cabins

More Positivity blocks

More string blocks

This week it's more of the same.  What I didn't have on the list was working on the June (purple) Table Scraps project.  I got the top totally done. Quilting and binding  it is on this new goal list.

6/21/2021

Trim and bind remade log cabin

Continue making Ombre Log Cabins Blocks

Finish string blocks

Quilt and bind purple table runner

Hopefully it will be a great week of quilting this week.  The weather will continue to be hot so I'll be staying inside a lot.

I'm linking up to my regular Monday parties: Oh Scrap, Monday Making, Design Wall Monday, and To Do Tuesday.  Let's check some blogs out!

What's On the Design Wall

I took a couple of pictures of my design wall to show that I am actually making things. (not just trying to quilt.) The not square checkerboard pieces are part of a quilt I call The Million Pieces Quilt.  I doubt if it will have a million pieces but the finished size of those little squares are 1 x 1.5".  Am I crazy?  Of course.  And no, I am not cutting each little square.  Well, not often at least.  I keep making blocks.  I may want to re-evaluate how many I need so I don't have left overs.  Either that or I am going to make a smaller quilt!  You can find the pattern at Marge Gordon's Delaware Quilts.  All the profits from her pattern sales go to cancer research.  And, if you like mysteries she sponsors Mysteries for Relay.  (You can click on the button on my side bar for more info.

Here's a close-up of Bunny Hill Design's block of the month program.  I started out by just collecting these Tisket a Tasket Baskets each month.  But as I prowled around different blogs  I saw a lot of them made up.  Ohhhh... I fell hard for them.  It was a long winter and I was ready for spring.  So I started with block 2.  It was incredibly easy after I spent a good bit of time prepping the pieces.  I hope to do one every Wednesday until I am caught up.  Tomorrow's is ready to sew.  The one below needs a beek or two and some french knot eyes.

Rumor has it we had 4" of rainfall last night.  And I woke up at 6 am to thunder, lightning and a little dog's single bark.  I was able to get back to sleep for an hour or so but not that good deep sleep.

And, here's Ragg performing his requested command: "Go Home, Raggs."  I use that command after we've been out in the front yard or for a walk.  I expect him to run up the driveway, up the stairs and sit and wait for me to come huffing and puffing up behind him.  Amazingly, he's been doing it more times than naught.  Good Raggs! (the little treats probably help a bit too.) It's hard to get a good picture of a black dog, with black eyes. Here we get Raggs with his laser eyes -- he can see through brick, aluminum siding, cars with these eyes.

Just kidding...

Happy Quilting!
