Monday Meanderings 1 - 30 - 2017

OMG √√√

Yes, I finished my One Monthly Goal last week.  I was enjoying my time with Sharon so I didn't get my finish posted to the blog right away. The quilting went very smoothly and I finished it in a day or two.  I used Ginger Star as the edge to edge design with So Fine thread in white on the top and in the bobbin.  I've been calling it Gems so that will be its name henceforth.

This quilt was a variation of Go! Diamonds Jubilee quilt pattern from Accuquilt.  I made it larger and used only red, white and blue fabrics.  I had planned to give it to TAPS for the May event they sponsor in Washington, DC. I am now rethinking that as Country Piecemakers are making quilts for veterans in transition housing.  They are looking for twin size quilts while TAPS is looking for smaller quilts.  I have two smaller quilts in the works so this one may be diverted. You can read more about the program here: TAPS.  I donate my quilts through Faithful Circle Quilters and Project Linus.

I've been thinking about what my next OMG project should be but I haven't made any decisions yet.

Here's a couple more photos of Gems in progress. First, my print out of the EQ drawing I did. I had a hard time figuring out how many of each piece I needed.  As I got closer to the end of piecing I was cutting more of several units. And then, I ended up with too many. Sigh.

Do you chain iron?  I do when it works -- basically after chain piecing. I line up the pieced units and iron.  After ironing I often clip the connected threads. As long as the chain of pieces isn't too long this works well. This photo was taken at our beach house.  I frequently bring quilting projects with me to work on there.

I had a great time up with Sharon. We spent a lot of time sewing so I will have some tops to show you soon.  But now, it's time to see how the goals went this week. Not too bad.  I'm down to just one sleeve to knit on the sweater and then it is on to putting it together and knitting the front band.

January 22, 2017
Quilt RWB Gems Quilt
Bind black and bright colored quilt
Prep for the bargello class and attend it
Finish bargello top except borders oops, I’m expanding mine so didn't work on it
Gather all red, white and blue orphan blocks
Knit on sweater
January 30, 2017
Knit on sweater
Put more crafting/quilting items away in the closet
Finish the R,W,B Orphan Block quilt top
Finish the pinwheel quilt top
Finish Stacy's small 9 patch quilt

This isn't a very long list as I'm trying to decide what to focus on next.

That's it for today.  I'm connecting with Monday Making, Main Crush Monday and   Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal link up. I'm looking forward to cruising the Internet for some great ideas.

Monday Meanderings 1 - 9 - 2017

Yea for a week with lots of studio time!  Several days last week were spent in the studio and I have some proof!  One of my goals last week was to play with my Accuquilt Go 9" Cube.  Here are some blocks I made.

This was suppose to be Turnstile but I didn't follow directions well.  I can't decide if I want to keep it as it is or  take it apart and make it correctly.  It will depend on what I decide to do with my blocks.

The Cube dies will make a lot more designs but I tend to make easier blocks so these appealed to me. I spent a few hours last night playing with these blocks in EQ 7 so hopefully I'll have a good plan by the end of the week. Yep, I'm starting something new.  But it should be a quick and easy quilt that will use fabric in my stash.  I'll keep you posted.

Let's get straight to my goals for this past week.  On some goals I was amazingly successful but not at all on others!  Here's the scoop:
January 2, 2017
Try the 9” cube Go dies
Clear off cutting table Actually it’s messier now…
Pull out Gems – Red, White and Blue quilt and finish putting the rows together
Load charity quilt that Sharon and I made√ and I quilted it!
Embroider snowflake on my sweatshirt I picked thread but that’s as far as I got
Plan or choose a seasonal wall hanging Didn’t look at this at all

Here's what I want to get done this week:
January 9th, 2017
Load and quilt one baby quilt
Knit on my UFO sweater
Embroider my sweatshirt
Prep backing for RWB Gems quilt
Cut out one baby quilt using the Go Cube

That's it for me today.  I'm linking with my normal Monday Linky Parties: Main Crush Monday and Monday Making.  Hope you have a few moments to browse these amazing blogs.  I know I'm going to squeeze in some time to look.

Monday Meandering 10 - 31 - 2016

Here's what I finished this past week.  There wasn't much to finish but the top is now done. (Quilting will happen??? Sometime but I don't know when.)

This is a design from Accuquilt. I changed the colors just a little.  You can read about it here.  Next up is deciding how to quilt this.  I still need to figure out the binding and backing.  It won't be finished really soon but it will be finished for spring!

On to my goals for this past week.  A lot got done but not everything.

Check all the Christmas Favorites blocks and add what is needed; sew them together oops, still need to stitch down the extras and sew this together

Here's a picture of Sophie when she tried to photo bomb my picture of Ellie eating her cake.  I snapped this cute picture of her. She's growing up.

Design Wall Monday 12-7-2015

I've been busy this past week, however I have nothing to show for it.  Sad, sad state of affairs.  What I can share is a top I quilted for a customer and friend.  It is a cute panel that she enhanced.  She chose Twinkling Snowflake for the quilting design and a grey So Fine thread.  Unfortunately, the fabric has so much going on you can't tell how cute the quilting design is.  It was fun to work on this cheery quilt.

My Christmas present arrived on Saturday. Pat and I have ordered our own presents this year. Some times we keep secrets but not this year.

I didn't take it out of the shipping box until Sunday afternoon.  I don't plan on taking it out of the box until later, much later!  I have to clean off a space for it...and really haven't decided where it will go.

I've got these pieces of fleece ready for the next round of present making.  They will be very cute when done. But no peeking until after Christmas!

I've done well on last week's goals.
Week of November 30, 2015
Bind charity quilt
Do more embroideries
Finish 2 pairs of mittens
Finish snowballs – ready to stuff but not finished
Work on quilt/s for Stacey
Try to squeeze in Easy Street

And, I'm all ready to tackle this week's goals.
December 6, 2015
Quilt charity quilt
Finish another mitten pair
Sew rows together of Easy Street
Fabric Shopping with the girls
Work on quilts for Stacey
Get packages ready to mail
Keep counting those cross stitch items!
