Design Wall Monday 7-28-14

Wait!  When did it get to be the end of July?  I could have sworn it was just the beginning of June!

Here's what's on my design wall.  Now I need some opinions.  Do I set the blocks next to each other or do I sash?  And, what color do I use to sash.  I am totally out of the turquoise so that isn't an option. Um, but I have some of the lighter turquoise.  But the rest of the colors I should have enough to sash with.  And, any thoughts on borders?  This will be a wall quilt and my preferred hanging space can handle quilts up to about 36" so I probably can't do a lot of border and still be able to hang it there. I'm thinking of 1" finished sashing and then maybe the green for the binding which would act as a small border too... Please comment below and give me your opinions!
1. I guess I am still working on one basket.  The turquoise center still needs to be stitched down.
2. This is how I started. The colors really change the tone of the quilt.  I'm definite I want sashing now.
3. Turquoise but that is all I have of this fabric.

4. Lots of yellow but not used in the baskets.

5. Orange and lots of it. I also have the two other oranges.

6. Purple.. The other purples were scraps from my collection.

7. Green more than enough to sash with.
So help me out here.  I'm shocked surprised at what a difference the sashing makes.  Now some help on coloring.  Please leave a comment on my quandary!
On to my goals.  Surprisingly I did a pretty good job on my goals this last week!  Woot! Woot!

Just dropping in to share a finish with you. I love how these colors pop!  This is such a great pattern to use with a novelty fabric!
This pattern shouldn't be new to those who read my blog.  Check here to see the last one of these I made.  The pattern is Two's Company by Kerie Patch Designs.   I have another one started that a guild member made as a kit for another baby quilt.  I need to add a border and then find a backing.   I also have some wonderful butterfly fabric that I'm hoping to use when I do another one.

I couldn't resist using this photo as it shows off my marigolds so well.  Unfortunately, we had a big storm yesterday so the flowers are a bit bedraggled.  I've been really good about deadheading these but the bees took exception to it this morning!

I'm linking up with TGIFF and Link a Finish Friday.   Go take a look at what others have finished recently.  It's time to get up and do something that will end in a finish!

Happy Quilting All!

Not Quilting but Cute

I've actually been quilting a lot this week.  YEA!  But what I have to share are two cute snowmen Diana and I made.  She had already made one and I really wanted one too.  I spent the morning with her yesterday and we each made one.  Here's mine.
And, here's Diana's. It will look really nice with her original snowman which is made on a Pringles can.

And here they are together.  I used a Pringles can and Diana had an old Slim Jim container.  I think we may need to find something else to do together as we had a great time.  We bought the same kit for making berry baskets while on vacation (separate vacations, go figure!) so that may be our next effort.  We  decided to wait until the cooler days of fall to work on them.

Next up two cute snowmen!

I'm hoping to post again tomorrow with a finished quilt!  Now, back to quilting.

Happy Quilting All!
