It's been a busy week! It was spring concert week for the Spotsylvanians. Friday was tech rehearsal. Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon were the concerts. We had good crowds for both events. And we sounded awesome. (We had a lot of positive comments after each of them.) Here's a couple of pictures -- I think they were from Friday night.

✅Finish knitting hat — done, need to add a pompom.
✅Bind orange peel quilt — done!
✅Begin 3 yard quilt project — good start, just need to add borders.
✅Make more 9 patches — several more finished.
Ok, I admit I am not sure which hat I finished -- I think it was a navy blue and white one. I also know I started a new yellow hat. I snapped a photo to share. It's the second hat from a big skein of yellow.

One thing I finished this week is some little 9 patches made with 1.5" squares. They will be part of Hens and Her Chicks from Quilts from the Heart by Karin Renaud.
I've used these little 1.5" squares as my leader enders for a while. I've got 52 9 patches done which is what is called for. Now I need to cut out a bunch of background pieces and bigger bright colored squares.
Recently I spent one evening cutting some scraps into usable size squares. Here's what I got done. Sharon calls this doing the dishes -- I think Bonnie Hunter started calling it that years ago. From the red on upper left: 2.5" square, 2" sq, 1.5" sq and 3" sq. I have a ridiculous amount of scraps that could be cut up for easier use.

- 15 minute days/Apr = 3/3
- 15 minute days/May = 4/31
- 15 minute days/2024 = 124/124 days
- Success rate = 100%

ReplyDeleteis this a church choir that you and your husband are in or a community choir? one of my brothers and his wife are in a community choir but they have to drive 60 miles to participate in it as they have none locally but it is something they really wanted to do in retirement. My brother also was a band director in his teaching career and so he goes to the same town to participate in that. Now he is the directory of the community band and dropped out of the choir as the band takes up all his time now when he isn't busy operating his farm. So much for a lazy retirement :)

ReplyDeleteSunny looks like a happy pup in the sun, and look at all that pretty fur, too! Your choir group sounds like fun - I love everyone's green accent with their black outfits - perfect for May. The Hen and Her Chicks quilt is going to be a pretty one!
ReplyDeleteIt must be glorious to sing in a choir when the acoustics are perfect! We were at our state capitol a few years ago, and when we walked out of the elevator we thought we were in heaven. A choral group was singing in the rotunda where it seemed like the music rose to the ceiling, then fell back down and surrounded us. It was glorious. Is the Spotsylvanians a chorus that's been around for a long time?

I enjoyed the photos of you from the concerts, Bonnie! Which one are you in the top photo? I couldn't pick you out there. Very cool that you sang in the round!!! Great progress on all your blocks, knitting, and doing dishes!
ReplyDeleteSounds (hah) like the concert was a good one. The madrigal, especially. I like your nine patches (and note that teal bonus from last month). The Hen and Chicks pattern would be great for the squares I've acquired recently....hmm. "Doing the dishes" sounds like a code!
