I spent most of last week reacquainting myself with Ruthie, the long arm, and her computer. I quilted three baby quilts on her. The big thing I did was figure out how to place a quilting design on a block. Well, what do you know? It was all type of easy. Here is one of the blocks I did. And, just because I figured it out doesn't mean I picked the right design to put on the block. Does it bother you like it bothers me?
I had two charity quilts made by Jane E that featured doggy fabric. I had to get dog paws to do that quilt. (ok, so I really didn't have to but I really wanted to! Plus I hope to make a dog quilt for the Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue that I volunteer with so why not?)
The second one was the same quilt design but the dog fabric was all different fabrics. It was so much fun to work on this quilt.
Check out the picture below to see the dog paws. Pat suggested I make the paws smaller on the second quilt but I didn't get them all that much smaller. Still figuring out the whole computerized quilting thing!

I had fun picking out the pantograph for this quilt. About 200 designs came with the computer program for Ruthie. I have found a few I really like and some that are, um, so-so. But on the right quilt this one looks fabulous. Check out the close up below. (and, yes, the color is definitely off on these quilts!)
Tomorrow I'm going to a guild Charity Quilt Sew In. I've made two quilt kits using the same pattern as above. I've got about 3 more I want to kit up whether I get to them tomorrow or later. At least I will be piecing for a bit. I've spent a lot of time figuring out the long arm this past week.
My goals looked really good for last week. The only thing I didn't get to was actually sewing on Easy Street.

I love your dog paws quilting. You met most of your goals last week so well done. My list is shorter, but I still didn't work on everything.

ReplyDeleteIt is easier to post a quick note to FB than to compose a blog post. Judy's Design Wall Monday is a good incentive. (I've tried a couple of other "day of the week" posts but I'm not very faithful about those.) How do all-the-time bloggers like Judy L. and Bonnie H. do it?
I recently had a baby quilt done with the geometric pantograph. I love it and the dog paws.
