Monday Meanderings 5 - 7 - 2018

Here's the charity quilt I was able to get quilted this weekend.  I quilted it for Faithful Circle Quilters.  They make a lot of charity quilts that usually get tied. I've volunteered doing some of the them over the last year or two.  This may be my last group as I won't be going up to Columbia all that often now that Sharon has moved south. Did you notice the sailing vessels on the back?  It must be a home dec fabric as it is much heavier than quilting cotton.  I was a little leery of it giving me problems since it also had some quilting cotton sewn to it to make the backing big enough.  In the end, it all worked fine.  Yea! I'll pass it on to Stephanie at retreat.  Hopefully, maybe I'll get the other two quilts done too.
The quilting pattern is Ginger Star by Apricot Moon.  It is one of several "Ginger" patterns available.  I like them all -- flower, heart, snap. I didn't get Ginger Squeeter! (see below.)  Thread is white So Fine on top and bobbin. I'm not sure what batting was given to me.  One of the reasons I like this design in all of it's variations is it is straight across the top.  I don't have to fill in partial rows.
Once again I was able to complete at least something on all my goals last week. Both the hand quilting and Jamestown Landing are long term projects.  I'm now quilting the borders of my Civil War quilt.  So the end is in sight on that one! Maybe in two weeks or so I'll be putting the binding on. The secret project has been put on the back burner.  I don't need to finish it right now.

I'll be linking up with my regular parties: Oh Scrap, Main Crush Monday, and Moving it Forward. (Monday Making is on a hiatus.  Watch for her return to blogging next week or the week after.) I'll be back tomorrow to activate all the links once everyone has posted their blogs on Monday. I think Main Crush Monday isn't being posted this week. I'm adding Design Wall Monday. I've hesitated to link because she specializes in small quilts and doll quilts.  I decided to give it a try and see what happens.  Take some time to look over at least some of these links.
Happy Quilting All! Bonnie

  1. I would so love to see the Ginger Skeeter on a quilt! What would be the perfect quilt for it?
It's amazing how long arm machines will quilt almost anything.

  2. My eye went immediately to The Cat in the Hat fabric - such fun. Ginger Skeeter would look great on a picnic quilt.

  3. How satisfying to see all the checkmarks on your lists. I don't think that mosquitoes on a quilt would be very comforting/comfortable!

  4. Oh that is indeed cat in the hat fabric! I love Dr Seuss!

Great job to your group for making this donation quilt and you for volunteering to quilt it with that mosquito pattern. Cute cute cute.

You've got a healthy lusty there . I wish you a happy quilty week.

  6. The sailboat fabric caught my eye! No surprise there, I guess. I worry about those thicker fabrics, too, but have been lucky so far that they've all worked out fine. I suspect quilting cottons are the *easiest* to use, but lots of other cottons will quilt up nicely :)

  8. Love the cat in the hat fabric, and glad the backing worked out fine. It is such a pretty nautical print. Thanks for linking with Design Wall Monday at Small Quilts. People link up with all sorts of projects on Mondays, so you are very welcome here. I am just continuing the link up that Judy Laquidara stopped over at Patchwork Times. She gave me permission to continue it on, so welcome!
