A month or two ago we went up to Washington on the VRE. (We are senior citizens and it was half price for us!) Here are a few random pictures I took during the trip.
The Travelers
This could be inspiration for an upcoming quilt! This is part of the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
Did you ever think that outdoor sculptures were cleaned? We were in the Sculpture Garden before the museums opened. I couldn't resist taking this picture as a group of ladies scrubbed away. Yep, this intricate statue was getting a good cleaning!
There was a display on the Mall showing the issues with plastics in our oceans. Here's an eye-popping statistic regarding the amount of plastic. This sign was attached to a cargo container. Eek!
(Rats, even playing with the brightness in my photo program doesn't help.) Read below to find out about this old Singer that made buttonholes! You might be able to see the buttonhole shape under the needle if you click on the picture to enlarge it.
What? Looser clothes helped the commercial dressmaking business?
That's all I've got on the DC trip at this point. I've got a few more pictures I'll be sharing over the next week or so.

Globally we MUST take a serious look at our consumption of all products, not just plastics. Reclycing and upcycling are necessary. Every community should be required to find ways to utilize discarded items and encourage citizens to reduce waste. I think the looser clothing allowed manufacturers to make more items in less time; thus, boosting the clothing industry.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun trip. We've reduced our use of plastic bottles to a bare minimum and have been using reusable water bottles.
ReplyDeleteYou were in DC!!!! I am so sorry, I missed you.
