There's a Finish!

Yes I have a finish but it is pretty small.

This quilt measures 33" x 33"
Made and quilted by Bonnie (that's me!)

Thread So Fine purple

Because my Bernina with the walking foot was having a spa week I attached the binding to the front of the quilt using my Featherweight and stitched the back by hand. (Generally I stitch the binding to the back and then pull to the front and stitch by machine using a walking foot.)

It's a smaller version of "Overnight Sensation" from Fabric Cafe's Easy Does It 3 Yard Quilts.  Needless to say it probably took me longer to pick the fabric than it did to sew the quilt together.

Ruthie was on her best behavior and quilted the 4 rows with no problems.

This has already been turned into the Virginia Star guild and will be going to the NICU at Mary Washington Hospital.

You can also see some of the Halloween decorations we've put out this year. The pumpkins and the tea light covers are machine embroidery designs from Embroidery Garden. Pumpkins are here; tea light covers are here.

Here's my last finish this week. I stamped this cute birthday card for Ellie's birthday.  Hum, that green doesn't quite look the way I thought it did. Hopefully the color changed with the photo.

I am still working on my goals this week so I'm cutting this short and getting on with some stitching. Here are my regular late week linky parties. Let's go surfing!

A Trip to DC

A month or two ago we went up to Washington on the VRE.  (We are senior citizens and it was half price for us!)  Here are a few random pictures I took during the trip.

The Travelers

This could be inspiration for an upcoming quilt! This is part of the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Did you ever think that outdoor sculptures were cleaned?  We were in the Sculpture Garden before the museums opened.  I couldn't resist taking this picture as a group of ladies scrubbed away.  Yep, this intricate statue was getting a good cleaning!

There was a display on the Mall showing the issues with plastics in our oceans.  Here's an eye-popping statistic regarding the amount of plastic.  This sign was attached to a cargo container.  Eek!

(Rats, even playing with the brightness in my photo program doesn't help.) Read below to find out about this old Singer that made buttonholes! You might be able to see the buttonhole shape under the needle if you click on the picture to enlarge it.

What?  Looser clothes helped the commercial dressmaking business?

That's all I've got on the DC trip at this point.  I've got a few more pictures I'll be sharing over the next week or so.

It's Pumpkin Time

I'm making a big effort to get all my Halloween decorations up before the party on Sunday.  And, I've gone wild about pumpkins.

And then there are the ones I've made....

These may get moved around -- I need to figure out the table setting and before I can do that I need a new table cloth.  I'll be doing that today!

I also made this cute tea light cover, Boo! I was never a fan of electric candles until I decided to make several of these cute covers.  Remember the spider mug rug?  This is from the same set. All of these designs are from Embroidery Garden.  The pumpkin face is a free file at Embroidery Garden using the Snowball set with orange fleece instead of white.

Time to get on with the day.  I'll be out shopping for some more electric candles, a table cloth and maybe some new paper plates and napkins... The party may be up to 20 people which should be quite the squeeze in my little house! Of course I could fit most of them comfortably in the studio.

I'm linking up with Can I Get A Whoop, Whoop?, Link a Finish Friday and Creative Goodness Linky Party, which isn't up yet.  I'll check back later today.
