Monday Meanderings 8 - 16 - 2020

And, again, where did that week go?

It zipped right on by . . . and I've been able to blog a few more times each week.  So, I'm changing up my normal blogging dates. (We'll see how well I can keep up with this plan!)  Monday I'll show some quilts or progress on quilts but I'm not going to do my goals list.  I'll do that either Tuesday or Wednesday.  I'm planning on linking up to To Do Tuesday by Home Sewn By Us.  I'll probably figure out a couple of others to link with too.  Then around Friday I'll share a quilt recently finished or moved forward.  I'm not sure if I'll have a finish every week but I'll find something to talk about!

Today, I'm sharing a customer's quilt I quilted a few weeks ago.  And, I LOVE it. Marlyn was pretty happy with it too.

So Fine thread 474. The quilting pattern is African Samba. I really like this design and have used it on several quilts over the years.

I forgot to show my finished top from the Silver Lining Sew Along that Jacquelynne Steves ran.  I think it started Mid-May and finished the last weekend in July. It didn't take me very long to make an extra block and then get the top pieced.

Eventually I'll find a backing for it and get it quilted.  Hum, I wonder if I could make a backing with the left over fat quarters?

That's it today! Wow, I like the fact that this takes much less time to create! Now, it's time to list my linky parties.  You know the ones I love to read and share! Oh Scrap, Monday Making, and Design Wall Monday. (I'll add the other links as they post their blogs.

Happy Quilting All! Bonnie

  1. Hi, Bonnie! I've been thinking about trying to get on a blogging schedule myself. I think it's a great idea to write about certain things on certain days, and I hope it works for you! Your Silver Lining top is adorable; do you have a special little one in mind for it? Also Marlyn's quilt looks great and I love that you share which pantograph pattern and which thread you used. My first attempts with following pantograph patterns when I first got my long arm machine 3 years ago did NOT go well, but I'm thinking of giving that another go now that I'm more comfortable with my machine... Any tips or suggestions of beginner-friendly pantographs that aren't boring would be greatly appreciated! By the way, what batting do you use with your long arm? I just finished my first heavily custom quilted quilt using Quilters Dream Cotton Select batting and was really disappointed by how much it shrank, crinkled, and flattened after washing. I won't use that batting again for custom quilting, but not sure if 80/20 would have been enough or if it needed wool or even a double batting in order to retain the loft and dimension in the areas that were not as densely quilted?

When you link up with To Do Tuesday tomorrow, I hope you will also take a moment to link up with Long Arm Learning as well. :-)

  2. The quilt in all blues and whites is lovely - such a pretty color combination! Love the different blocks in the Silver Lining quilt, too, and the pink dot you connected them all with. Cute!

  3. The blue quilt is very nice! Thematic blog posts sounds ambitious! I will tune in.

  4. Your plans for blog posts will be interesting to read. I rarely participate in link parties, but it’s fun to see the variety of posts from everyone. Love the colors and simplicity of the blue/white quilt. It’s very attractive.

  5. Nice job on your customer's quilt, Bonnie! I've only seen that quilting design once before. That QAL is going to be SEW cute!

  6. The customer quilt turned out beautifully. The quilting design really flows with the blocks. Congrats on getting your Silver Lining blocks assembled. I always struggle with the setting step. Setting a blogging schedule works for me, though I've noticed I my posts are all in the early part of the week. That's OK I think, it gives me time to catch up on replying to the comments before next week's posts.
